Independence Day Celebrations

 

 

Fireworks and hot dogs and flags, oh my! Summertime in Oxford, Ohio means the entire community gathering together for family-friendly Independence Day celebrations.
July 4th may be just one day but the party lasts much longer, giving you several opportunities to join in the festivities even amid your busy work schedule.

Freedom Festival Parade

When: Saturday, July 1st, 2023 at 6:30 PM

Where: Begins at the corner of College and High Street and progresses east on High Street to Poplar Street.

***The Oxford Community Band will begin performing at 5:45pm!!***

Come with your friends and family to celebrate Independence Day with a classic, yet wonderful, parade! The Theme: Salute to Freedom – Oxford Style.

  • Decorate your group or float with lots of red, white, and blue!
  • Cash Prizes for Best Floats: 1st- $100, 2nd- $75 and 3rd- $50
  • Kids – Decorate your bikes for the Bike Parade (ages 3-12)
  • Pet Owners – Dress up your pet for the Pet Parade

Uptown Music Concert: Michelle Robinson Band

When: Saturday, July 1st, 2023 following the parade (7:00 PM – 9:30 PM)

Where: Uptown Park

Come enjoy live music from The Michelle Robinson Band!

Genre: Country

Nashville Recording Artist Michelle Robinson is an artist on the rise. Originally from Cincinnati, Michelle Robinson brings her remarkable raw talent to the stage, playing originals and some of your favorite cover songs. She has shared the stage and opened for National Acts such as Scotty McCreery, The Kentucky Headhunters, Maddie & Tae, JoDee Messina, Mark Chesnutt, Diamond Rio, Phil Vassar, Uncle Kracker, and many others. The Michelle Robinson band plays festivals, casinos, and some of the top venues in the state. They were nominated for Cincinnati’s Country Entertainer of the year for 2019. Since then, they have become their own unique brand of country music, with a taste of rock, pop, and soul. Michelle puts on an entertaining show and connects with the crowd in a special way. It’s a show you won’t wanna miss!

Oxford Freedom Festival

When: Monday, July 3rd, 2023 from 5:00PM – 10:30 PM

***FIREWORKS ARE AT 10:00pm!!***

Where: The Oxford Community Park (6801 Fairfield Rd)

  • Activities: Axe throwing, Horse Carriage Rides, Inflatables, Face Painting, Balloon Artist, Gaga Pit, and Giant Games.
  • Entertainment: Live band.
  • Food: LaRosa’s, Charcuterie, Kettle Corn, Funnel Cakes, and Hometown Swirls Ice Cream.
    • And an all new beer garden!
  • Fireworks: 10:00 p.m, 4x the fireworks from 2022!
  • Parking: $5 charge per vehicle at Oxford Community Park
  • Please note- No alcohol, grills, or drones are permitted in the park.

Hueston Woods Fireworks Extravaganza

When: Wednesday, July 5th, 2023 from 5:00PM – 10:00PM

Where: Hueston Woods Lodge (5201 Lodge Road, College Corner)

This annual event is an Oxford favorite! Bring your own lawn chairs and blankets so that the whole family can hang out. Admission is completely free! There will be food and festivities taking place on the back lawn of the lodge, and food trucks at the beach, so make the rounds and see what’s going on to make the most out of your night. Fireworks begin at dusk and are launched over Acton Lake. It will be a gorgeous sight and one that you’ll be able to see from the lodge and all of the shore areas surrounding the lake. Pick a spot and watch the magic unfold! Commemorative T-shirts will be available at the park office or camp store for $15. Please note that no alcohol is permitted.
