Name: Rex Vining

Job Title: Communications & Marketing Manager

What does your role as Communications & Marketing Manager entail? I’m responsible for all of the marketing and communications messaging across various digital channels, including our website (blog posts, business listings, event listings, trip itineraries, etc.), email newsletters (one for the general public and another for local businesses), social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok), paid ads, and various third-party sites (via press releases, article pitches, etc.). I also help with the marketing of Enjoy Oxford events!

What’s your favorite thing about working at Enjoy Oxford? I’m still new to the role, but my co-workers seem really friendly and open to new ideas. I’m really into information architecture and the user experience – I have big plans for the future of our site. I also love interacting with community members at our events!

How long have you lived in Oxford? I moved to Oxford from Denver, Colorado in 2021. However, I grew up in Cincinnati and went to college at Miami University, so I have a longer history with Oxford, Ohio.

Write up an itinerary for your perfect day in Oxford:

  1. Start the day with a bike ride around the Oxford Area Trails loop.
  2. Head to Bodega Delicatessen for a quick afternoon bite.
  3. Stop by Oxford Lane Library to check out a new book for some evening reading.
  4. Sneak in a round of frisbee golf at the Miami University Disc Golf Course.
  5. Visit Krishna for some delicious Indian food, unless of course it’s Sunday, in which case I’d want to go to Steinkeller for their weekly Prime Rib special.
  6. For dessert, Graeter’s Ice Cream is a must – you can’t go wrong with their chocolate chip!
  7. End the day by heading home to read that book you checked out from the library!

Favorite restaurant in town? There are too many to choose from! Bodega, Bruno’s Pizza, Fiesta Charra, Gaslight Brewhouse, Krishna, Larosa’s, Left Field Tavern, Mac & Joe’s, Paesano’s Pasta House, Pickle & Pig, Skyline Chili, and Steinkeller could all be my answer, depending on what day you ask.

Word on the street is that the EO staff can’t go a day without coffee…what’s your go-to order? I’m the exception to the rule – no coffee here! You’re more likely to see me with a Poppi prebiotic soda.

Fun fact about yourself? In addition to my 15+ years of digital marketing experience, I also founded and ran my own clothing line, production house, and record label. My clothing line was responsible for throwing Higher Ground (in 2004 and 2005), the largest hip hop event in the state of Colorado, featuring emcee, deejay, and b-boy battles, as well as a graffiti exhibit.
