Oxford Lions Club Halloween Parade

 

Get ready for a spooky October in Oxford, OH! From pumpkins and candy to costumes and historic tours, Halloween in Oxford is a month-long celebration for the whole family. One of the most anticipated events is the Lions Club Halloween Parade, a long-standing tradition in the Historic Uptown District. This year marks the parade’s 76th annual celebration, and is known to be a community event!

The Oxford Lions Club, founded in 1947, introduced the Halloween Parade as their first service project, and it quickly became a beloved tradition. Every year since then, between 400 and 600 kids arrive in his Historic Uptown District to show off their costumes as they march in the parade. It starts on Beech Street between Kofenya, and You’re Fired, where participants will be grouped by age. At the parade’s end, judges will select a few standout costumes in each group for awards.

A member of the Oxford Lions Club, Kevin McKeehan, said he has seen grandparents who participated in the parade as kids, now watch their grandchildren in the parade. “It’s nothing too formal – just a fun, relaxed event that everyone in Oxford enjoys,” McKeehan said.
