Hike-A-Thon
Hike-A-Thon in Oxford, Ohio signals an official goodbye to summer and an enthusiastic hello to autumn while celebrating the progress of Oxford Area Trails and Miami University Natural Area Trails! This event is fun for all ages, pet-friendly (don’t forget a leash!), and wheelchair accessible. Pick up your route map at the information booth to choose routes from 1 mile, 3 miles, or 5 miles. If you’re feeling a challenge, take an optional unpaved route for nature trail hiking. No matter the path you choose, bask in the sounds and sights of nature with friends and family while exploring the many trails surrounding Oxford.
Saturday, September 21st, 2024 | 9am – 1pm
Start location: DeWitt Cabin Parking Lot
During your guided or self-guided hike, you will find engaging local organizations:
- The City of Oxford with FREE Hike-A-Thon tee shirts (while supplies last), and event route maps.
- Oxford Museum Association offers DeWitt Log Home tours, museum reenactors, and a musket demonstration.
- Find the National Audubon Society at the Birdblind & Pollinator Garden to measure your wingspan.
- Oxford Lane Public Library with nature and trail materials.
- Miami University Hefner Museum with Ohio native wildlife information.
- Miami University Equestrian team and horses.
- Hueston Woods State Park Park naturalist with live native animals.
- Three Valley Conservation Trust with trail materials and information.
- BikeWise offers test rides on e-bikes (perfect for Oxford Area Trails!) available for purchase in shop.
- Coalition for a Healthy Community offering giveaways.
- MetroParks with Butler County park information and materials.
- NEW! Stop and grab a coffee at Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee truck!

*Once Hike-A-Thon ends, head Uptown between 1 pm-8 pm for OXtoberfest festivities. Grab collect your commemorative beer stein, indulge in some German food and beer from Oxford’s local German restaurant, Steinkeller, challenge your friends to fun games, contests, and more!
